Google has now finally come up with shipping and returns information for the Google search results. This now expands the product info shown on search results.
While shopping, the user wants to know the maximum details of the products upfront before actually roaming down the site. They sometimes abandon the decision of buying the product to due incomplete information about shipping charges or return policy. Therefore google has decided to use this info right in the search result.
This feature will also help the merchant to optimize their products and make more sales organically.
How to provide shipping and returns info:
Google said the merchant can use structured data markup to provide this information. Apart from this, if the merchant has already provided the product information on the Google merchant center, google will use the shipping and returns information from Google Merchant Center as well.
Use Google Search Console to fix existing errors
Merchants also get a tool in GSC to find and fix any error related to shipping and return info in their products. You will receive a warning in the Merchant listing report and via email notification.
Currently, this update is active for search results in the US and will be soon pushed to more countries.
Conclusion: If you sell products online, you should quickly adapt to this update. Since this will not only provide more details to consumers but will also increase your CTR due to detailed information in the search result.
Update: We got this warning in our GSC to update both fields. I suggest merchants check their GSC and update the products as soon as possible to gain advantage over their competition.
